Arab Open University – Stakeholder

The Arab Open University (AOU) is a pioneering Arab university which was founded in 2002 and started with its operations in seven Arab countries. Presently, AOU operates in nine countries across the Arab world.

AOU began with its operations in Oman in March 2008 and currently has around 1800 students in its master, bachelor and diploma programs.

The AOU vision is to build a science and knowledge society. Its mission is to develop and disseminate knowledge and build expertise according to international quality standards without time or geographical barriers for the sake of contributing to development needs.

The AOU is committed to high academic standards. AOU Oman offers programs for open learning students who otherwise would find it difficult to continue their university education. Hundreds of Omanis and residents have improved their careers through the open-learning programs offered by AOU.

AOU Oman also offers a full-time option for students who prefer this mode, especially the students sponsored through the Common Admission Center of the Ministry of Higher Education.

The AOU system of common and highly regulated academic provision ensures high quality processes of instruction and assessment resulting in credible learning outcomes attained by graduates. As well, the university enhances its communication and relationship with its Alumni.

As part of its continued commitment to academic standards, AOU has renewed its institutional accreditation by the Open University – UK (OU) and revalidated its academic programs affiliated with the OU. New tracks in the IT degree include web development and network security. New tracks in Business include finance and human resources.

AOU is continuing to grow by adding to its academic program portfolio the bachelor of accounting, as well as the bachelor of law to cater to varying demands of the job market.
